Lavinia is a photographer, designer and artist based in London and Milan.
Having undertaken studies in Economics and Business, she has always been exposed to an international environment and worked, amongst others, for United Nations. Pursuing a creative passion that she always wanted to follow, she went on to complete a MArch in Urban Design under the guidance of Prof. Colin Fournier at the Bartlett School of Architecture in London.
Her urban design work includes detailed studies of the capital’s urban features and a documentary of the 2012 London Olympic site. Her interior décor designs are featured in a number of private institutions, and recently in the new upmarket Lounge Bar Clarity, set to open towards the end of the year.
Lavinia came to photography in the early 1990s, shooting, developing, and printing 35mm black and white pictures. It was at the age of 12 in South America with her family that she discovered images in colour.
For years she pursued photography as a vocation alongside her other career, exposing numerous rolls of film and refining her skills by attending evening courses in photography and journalism at the Italian Institute of Photography.
Lavinia is a “street photographer” in the tradition of Henri Cartier-Bresson and Robert Frank. She has a relentless passion for black and white photography, with a touch of fine art and a contemporary twist.
Her inspiration comes from her travels, in which she captures faces of culture, natural and man-made structures, and catching the fleeting moments of her subjects. Having ventured into much of Western Europe, Russia, USA, Africa, Asia, Central and South America and Australasia, she has documented a wide palette of people and places, in both digital and film formats.
Recently she crossed into the film-making domain, exploring the moving image as a new tool of artistic expression.
